The Historical Association of Woodbridge Township was organized in 1984 to encourage and foster the preservation of the rich history and heritage of Woodbridge Township. Your membership dues go toward supporting our goals of recording and preserving the history of the township. We sponsor programs which educate the public and encourage interest in local history, genealogy, historic preservation, living history portayals, the Americal Civil War, etc.
Past events include walking tours; Civil War encampments; participation in the Middlesex County Historic Site Survey; host of the bicentennial reenactment of George Washington's Inaugural Journey through Woodbridge in 1989; Woodbridge Township's 325th Anniversary celebration in 1994; a reenactment of President Lincoln's 1863 Thanksgiving Day Proclomation; sponsoring the publication of a biography of James Parker; and the publication of an annual Historical Calendar.
The Historical Association of Woodbridge Township meets the 4th Monday evening of each month and features various talks and presentations. membership is open to anyone with an interest in the history of the Woodbridge area. We are affiliated with the League of New Jersey Historical Societies and the New Jersey History Issue Conference.
